Young Seon Mi plays tag with her classmates near an abandoned church. When they realize that Seon Mi joined them, they push her and start spitting on the tree, saying it has now bad luck. They leave to find another spot to play while Seon Mi stands up and apologizes to the tree for losing its playmates. She injures herself in the process and a female spirit residing atop the tree smells her blood. The spirit invites her to play, which she accepts willingly. The woman extends its arms for her and drags her upward. The spirit of Seon Mi's grandmother arrives and pulls her back. The female spirit vanishes and Seon Mi's grandma tends to her wound, encouraging her that the person destined to protect her is arriving soon. Then her grandma's spirit also vanishes.
At present time, Oh Gong tends to Seon Mi's wounds while explaining that more spirits will come after her now because she is Sam Jang. He declares that he originally went there to eat her as well but then he can't because they knew each other and they go way back. He also says that he was just acting tough and that he missed her a lot. So he suggests they renew their contract and get rid of the old one. Woo Hwi explains to her assistant what Sam Jang is. It is a human with noble blood who has received the royal summons of heaven. He appeared before the disarrangement of mortals happened. Being Sam Jang was Seon Mi's punishment for releasing Oh Gong. Woo Hwi feels a bit responsible because she sent her there in the first place. It is revealed that Woo Hwi took drops of Seon Mi's blood from when she got injured earlier and puts it inside the crystal on his ring. Sam Jang's blood is very irresistible so he feels that he's gonna have a difficult time keeping her close. He wonders how Oh Gong is able to resist such temptation so his assistant explains that Oh Gong was once a deity so he is technically on a higher level than monsters. She volunteers to bring Sam Jang for Woo Hwi to eat but he declines as he is trying to be a deity himself.
Seon Mi realizes the danger of being Sam Jang but still refuses to get eaten by Oh Gong. She gets up and leaves but she was dragged by a spirit into an alley. She takes her umbrella out but the spirit discards it effortlessly. It attacks her and even got as far as biting her on the hand but Oh Gong arrives to protect her. Seon Mi pleads to Oh Gong to continue protecting her just like he did earlier but Oh Gong clarifies that he is just protecting his prey. The contract was once again brought up but Seon Mi can't help it because she doesn't remember his name. Oh Gong gives Seon Mi 15 days to think about his offer. The groom is marrying seven brides, all of which are dressed in hanbok, bowed down, and faces covered. Oh Gong's presence was noticed by the villagers and he was dragged in the presence of the groom. He declares that he's there to take one of the brides. The groom tests him by making him identify the person he wants at an unfair distance.
